Honda’s engineers are tireless in their efforts to make your car safer. The Japanese automaker recently announced that it is developing new front-passenger airbag technology to help better protect passengers in a variety of front collision scenarios.
The new Honda airbag was created and tested by engineers at Honda
R&D Americas, Inc. These highly-scientists worked with Autolive — one of
the company’s safety systems suppliers — to create this revolutionary safety
“This new airbag technology represents Honda’s continuing
effort to advance safety performance in a wider variety of crash scenarios and
reflects the innovative thinking that our engineers are bringing to the challenge
of reducing traffic injuries and fatalities,” said Jim Keller, President of
Honda R&D Americas, Inc.
This next-generation airbag technology will address a
previously neglected collision-type: the angled frontal impact, in which lateral
collision forces can cause the occupant’s head to rotate or slide off of the
airbag. It will have four major components: three inflated compartments and a
“sail panel” that stretches between the two side chambers at their outermost
edge. This “sail panel” will act like a baseball catcher’s mitt, decelerating
the occupant’s head to cradle and protect it.
Honda plans to introduce this life-saving feature in 2020. For a closer look at the latest and greatest in automotive safety, swing by Hardin County Honda and go for a test drive.

Your vehicle has many ways of telling you that that something is wrong. One convenient way is through its dashboard lights. Here is what some of the most common dashboard lights on your vehicle mean:
Engine Light: The little yellow submarine (not the one the Beatles live in)
means there is potentially an issue with your engine. Some issues could be
minor, while others could be major. Ignoring the light, however, will only lead
to more expensive repairs, so it’s best to bring your vehicle to our service center
Brake Warning: When you see ABS in a circle and parentheses, it means there
is a problem with your antilock brake system that needs to be addressed.
Pressure Warning: This light, which looks like a dripping teapot or genie’s
lamp, indicates that you are possibly low on oil (or else there is a problem
with the system). Get this checked out by a professional.
Pressure Warning Light: This yellow exclamation point in a strange U shape
means that one of your tires has low pressure. If you fill the low tire and the
light comes back on, your tire likely has a leak that needs to be patched.

Car and Driver is hoping to make it easier for you to find a mid-size pickup truck. That’s why it recently released its annual Best Mid-Size Truck list, in which the Honda Ridgeline earned the top spot for the second year in a row. Let’s take a look at how the Ridgeline earned the Car and Driver Best Mid-Size Truck1 title.
One of the reasons the
Ridgeline is different from its competition is its uni-body structure. This
structure gives the Ridgeline a car-like drivability, which its competition
doesn’t have. The editors at Car and Driver claim that this structure
helps offer “good fuel economy, smart handling… and an excellent ride.”
Intelligent Truck Bed
The Ridgeline’s uni-body
frame means that it doesn’t have any frame rails, allowing Honda to take
advantage of more space for its truck bed. That’s why the Ridgeline features a
lockable In-Bed Trunk®, which has a drain plug. It can be used to store tools
or as a cooler if you happen to be tailgating. The Ridgeline also has an
available 150W/400W truck bed outlet for power tools and other items, so you
don’t have to worry about finding a plug on the go.
As the only pickup truck to
receive a 2019 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway
Safety (IIHS)2, the Ridgeline will help you feel more confident
behind the wheel.
You can drive the 2019 Honda Ridgeline when you visit us at Hardin County Honda. Come learn more about this award-winning truck.
